Forest Lakes Fire District has accepted the role of issuing burn
permits
Burn Permits are issued to those applicants who:
-
Download, fill out, and sign a Burn Permit Application
- Have their burn area inspected by the Fire Department
- Adhere to the Burn Permit restrictions.
The Burn Permit Restrictions are:
- You are allowed to burn during the following hours:
- April through September - 8:00 AM through 4:00 PM
- October - 9:00 AM through 3:00 PM
- November through February - 10:00 AM through 2:00 PM
- March - 9:00 AM through 3:00 PM
- You are not allowed to burn debris/needles at night or after the
posted hours.
- Their permitee or designee must be an ADULT and outside and within
sight of the burning until the fire is completely cold and out.
- Wind must not be over 5 MPH (i.e. over a slight breeze)
- The Fire Department must be notified prior to burning, each and
every day of burning. Property owners absolutely must notify the
Fire Department office by calling 535-4644 with your name and lot
number prior to beginning slash burning activity so we may be
prepared in the event of a problem. You are required to speak with a
"live" individual, hence you can do so by pressing - 0 - on your
touch-tone telephone keypad to speak with an operator during normal
business hours. If you will be burning on the weekend, please call
our main number, 535-4644, and then press '*711' on your keypad,
then the '1' key; this will connect you to one of our dispatchers
who can assist with your request to use your chainsaw.
- There will be no burning during the following conditions:
- Winds over 5 MPH
- Red Flag conditions (watch for signs/flags at subdivision
entrances)
- Water shortage
- Extreme fire behavior conditions
- Revocation of your Burn Permit
- Note: Fire conditions change hourly and you may be requested to
put your burn out cold as conditions warrant. This is why you must
notify the department (read: "request to burn") each and every day
that you intend to burn!
Contact the Forest Lakes Fire Department during normal office hours
if you wish to obtain a Burn Permit.
